Kay Ruffner, 84, of Maplevale Road in Brookville, Pa., died Sunday, May 14, 2017, while a patient of Penn Highlands Hospital in Brookville.
Kay was born on May 15, 1932, in Sugar Hill, Pa., a daughter of Anna (Holt) and Lloyd Bovaird of Sugar Hill.
Kay married Phil Ruffner on June 14, 1952, in the Sugar Hill Presbyterian Church. Kay and Phil have five children: Stan Ruffner, married to Debra; Cynthia, married to Martin Zidek; Barbara, married to Roger Fitzgerald; Paul Ruffner, married to Theresa; and Patti Susko; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to these children, Kay is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Phil, with whom she would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on June 14th.
People who remember Kay see her smiles. She loved everyone and made special time for them.
Kay was a brilliant math student at Brockway High School, as well as Valedictorian and Prom Queen during her senior year. Kay worked for over 31 years as a supervisor at United Electric Cooperation in DuBois, Pa. Kay loved music and gave many piano recitals during her years while living in Brockway. When the organist retired from the United Methodist Church in Brockway, Kay became their organist. Later, as a member of the Presbyterian Church in Brookville, Kay became a member of their Bell Choir.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the life of Kay from 2–4 p.m. and 6–8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at the McKinney–d'Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825. A celebration service of her life will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at the Presbyterian Church of Brookville, corner of White and Main St., beginning at 11 a.m., and officiated by Pastor Boyd Edmondson. Interment will take place at St. John's Cemetery (Windy Hill), Rose Twp., Jefferson Co., PA.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Brookville Presbyterian Church.
