Larry Blair Foulkrod, 74, of Brookville, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Jefferson Manor in Brookville on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015.
Mr. Foulkrod was born in Brookville on Dec. 14, 1940, a son of the late Jesse Edward and Letha Roberta (Wolfe) Foulkrod. Larry married his sweetheart, Sara "Sally" Elizabeth Riggs on Jan. 5, 1961. His beautiful wife of 54 years survives.
Larry grew up in Brookville and was a U.S. Army veteran. Following service to his country, Larry worked for the Brookville Borough where he retired as the maintenance supervisor after 29 years with the borough. Larry was active in the greater Brookville community. He was a member of the Jefferson County Long Gunners and the Roseville Independent Chapel. Larry was devoted to his church and very involved in building of the new church where he volunteered his skills as an electrician amongst his many other duties. But most of all, his passion was to see the new chapel's kitchen completed and furnished with all of the required necessities.
When not helping his church, Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, and "Jasper," the "shared" family dog which he loved. However, his greatest joy was spending precious time with his family; especially, his grandchildren whom he adored and were the sparkle of his eye.
Besides his darling wife Sara, of 54 years, Larry is survived by a son, Scott Blair Foulkrod and his wife, Denise, of Brookville, and two daughters, Connie Nelson and her fiance,' Russ Outman of Brookville and Carole Clement and her husband Rick of Erie. Larry is also survived by two brothers and one sister; Raymond Foulkrod and his wife Lee Grace of Sykesville, Frank Foulkrod and his wife Kathleen of DuBois, and Patricia McCool of Brookville. Larry's three grandchildren, whom he loved so dearly are Erik and Ashley Foulkrod and Breanna Nelson.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by a brother, James Edward Foulkrod.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, at the Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home Inc., in Brookville. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at the funeral home and officiated by Pastor Jim Fillhart and co-officiated by Bill Saxman. Mr. Foulkrod will be interred at the Jefferson Cemetery in Brookville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Roseville Independent Chapel Kitchen Fund, 3381 Route 322, Brookville, PA. 15825.
