Lolagene (Shick) Painter, age 87, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2017, in Andover, Ohio.
Lola was born on Jan. 16, 1930, to the late Maurice and Della (McKay) Shick. She graduated from Brookville High School in 1947. In 1951 she married Lyle Painter, who survives her.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Brookville where she was active in the United Methodist Women. She volunteered at Laurelbrooke Landing and was a member of the auxiliary there. Lolagene loved playing cards several times a week. She had a contagious laugh and a smile that could light up any room. She loved spending time with her family and traveling anytime she got the chance.
She worked as a clerk at Maplevale and as a teacher's aide for years at Hickory Grove Elementary School.
In addition to her husband she is survived by four children: Robert (Shirley) Painter of Brookville, Gene Painter of Brockway, Susan (Richard) Guild of Mentor, Ohio, and Lisa (Mark) Stair of Brookville; seven grandchildren: Willie (Jen) Painter, Elmo Painter, Eric (Nicole) Painter, Matt Mohney, Brett Mohney, Isaac Painter, and Lewis Painter; two great-granddaughters, Megan and Savannah Painter; and one great-grandson, Silas. She is also survived by numerous step grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Shick.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, from 2 - 4 p.m. and 6 - 8 p.m. at the McKinney–d'Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 13, 2017, beginning at 11 a.m., and officiated by the Rev. Dennis Johnson, also at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Brookville Cemetery, Brookville, Jefferson Co., Pa.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the First United Methodist Church or the Laurelbrooke Auxiliary.
