Lorraine H. "Lorry" Steele, age 80, of Glen Hazel Road, Wilcox, Pa., died on Sunday, Sept. 25, 2016, at U.P.M.C. St. Margaret Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Born on Feb. 20, 1936, in East McKeesport, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Charles and Jennie Ward Harrison. She was married to Dr. David Quinn Steele and he preceded her in death on June 27, 2012.
Retired, Lorry had over the years worked as a Registered Nurse, a real estate broker for Prudential, now Berkshire Hathaway, and had served as the vice president of the Pittsburgh Zoological Society.
She was a member of the Shiloh Presbyterian Church in St. Marys where she also served as an Elder. Over the years Lorry enjoyed many mission trips to the Ukraine, spreading the word of the Lord and helping those in need. She was a great philanthropist, and the many Christian organizations she believed in supporting was endless.
She is a former board member of the Cinderella Ball, the Magee-Womens Hospital and the Pittsburgh Zoo. In her younger days she enjoyed playing on the women's basketball team at the Allegheny General Hospital School of Nursing. Lorry enjoyed skiing, camping, hiking and being in the outdoors. The most important role in her life was that of a grandmother, and being a child of God.
She is survived by three sons: David Quinn (Sandra) Steele of Chile; William Scott (Valeria) Steele III of St. Marys and Charles Ward (Christy) Steele, also of St. Marys. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband she is also preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Robert Harrison.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 8, at 1 p.m. at the Shiloh Presbyterian Church in St. Marys, Pa. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery in Brockway. Memorial donations may be made to the Shiloh Presbyterian Church, 217 Washington Street St. Marys, PA 15857.
