Margaret Ann McMeekin (Keenen) died at the age of 85 surrounded by family on Monday, July 10, 2017, at Highland View.
Ann was born on April 12, 1932, to Erma and Lawrence Keenen in Salamanca, N.Y. The family moved to Brockway when Ann was a child. She was a member of the Brockway Class of 1950. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Lawrence Keenen, Jr. of Thousand Oaks, Calif., Katherine Gess of Zanesville, Ohio, and Charles Keenen of Lancaster, N.Y.
Ann loved her family. She married James H. McMeekin on Oct. 14, 1961. They were married for 40 years. He precedes her in death. They resided at 1581 Church Avenue, Brockway, Pa., for over 35 years. They had four children: Michelle (Orlando) Elizondo of Denton, Texas, Robert (Beth) McMeekin of Brockway, Kevin (Beth) McMeekin of Brockway, and Ellen McMeekin (deceased). They also have seven grandchildren: Matt Kosik of Brockway, Stephen(Sara) Konopko of Raleigh, N.C., Lisa (Brad) McMeekin of Brockway, Robbie McMeekin of DuBois, and Delaney, Layken, Katie McMeekin of Brockway.
Ann was a member of the Brockway Homemakers Club and St. Tobias Catholic Church. She was also a school crossing guard for many years. Ann and Jim also donated their time to Meals on Wheels for several years.
She could be found playing Bingo or cards at the fire hall or with friends. Ann was also an avid knitter and sewer. She loved crafts of any kind, and donated her time and talents to the Harvest of Love.
A viewing will be held at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home, Inc., Brockway, on Wednesday, July 12, from 12 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be held at St. Tobias Church at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, with Msgr. Charles Kaza officiating. The services at the gravesite following.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ellen Marie McMeekin Scholarship Fund at Priority First, 550 Main St., Brockway, PA 15824.
