Margaret "Peggy' Ann Bakas of Port Orange, Fla., died peacefully Aug. 13, after a prolonged illness.
The daughter of William and Margaret Reister, she was born May 31, 1931, in Wheeling, W.Va., and also lived in Buffalo, N.Y., before moving to DuBois, where she was raised.
She married Adrian Bakas in 1950, raised a family of three, and earlier this year marked their 64th wedding anniversary.
In 1998, Peggy and Adrian retired to Port Orange, Fla., after living in DuBois many years.
In her life, Peggy enjoyed her family and friends, participating in church, scouts, and school activities.
She also enjoyed helping out at B&J Florist Shop in DuBois where she worked part-time.
Survivors include her sister, Norma Woika of State College; daughter, Kathy of Leesburg, Fla.; son, John of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, and a great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Charles (1968); her sister, Eleanor; and earlier this year, her husband, Adrian.
A graveside service will be held at Morningside Cemetery, DuBois.
We will miss her.
