On Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, the long-awaited invitation finally arrived for Margaret M. Reed, 96, of 1261 Montmorenci Road, Ridgway, to join the Lord in Heaven. She joyfully accepted.
She was born Dec. 6, 1918, in Ridgway, daughter of the late Michael and Margaret Luchs Luchs. She married Stanley C. Reed Oct. 8, 1948. He preceded her in death Sept. 6, 1993.
She had resided in Ridgway all her life and was a member of the Faith United Church of Christ. Aside from spending time with her family and friends, she enjoyed putting puzzles together.
Margaret was well known for the many cards and letters she sent to family and friends far and near. Margaret was always thinking of others, even donating her body to science in the end.
She is survived by one daughter, Sandra L. (Don) Eberhart of Brockport; two sons, Gary Reed of Erie and Paul A. (Patty) Reed of Ridgway; six grandchildren: April, Tom, Scott, Kim, Dillon, Dustin; five great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mary Luchs of Johnsonburg; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Bonnie Horchen.
She was also preceded in death by five brothers: Eugene, Roland, Milton, Verne and Herbert Luchs; two sisters, Rosemond Crawford and Genevieve Lyle.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at the Faith United Church of Christ, 400 Ash St., Ridgway, with Paul A. Reed officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Community Nurses Inc., 757 Johnsonburg Road, St. Marys, PA 15857 or to the , P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101.
