Marian Anderson Clontz, 89, South Church Street, DuBois, died Saturday, June 28, 2014, at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born May 11, 1925, in DuBois, she was a daughter of the late Richard C. and Laura DeRolph Anderson Sr. She was married to William D. "Bill" Clontz Oct. 6, 1947. He preceded her in death Oct. 20, 2006.
A graduate of DuBois Area High School Class of 1943, she worked as a nurse's aide during World War II, a Bell Telephone operator, secretary for Anderson Insurance Company and retired from the Dietary Department of DuBois Hospital in 1988.
She lived most of her life in DuBois and was a member of the Smithtown Community Church in Falls Creek and a past Cub Scout Den mother. She enjoyed visiting her extended family and friends and was an avid Steelers fan.
She is survived by six children: Lynda Williams of Cleveland, Texas, Sandra Shrum of Scottdale, Debra (Dennis) Burkett of Falls Creek, Richard (Joy) Clontz of Irwin, Ronald (Sue) Clontz of Falling Waters, W. Va., and Robert (Barbara) Clontz of Portage, Mich.; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Laurel Federici; a sister, Norma Jean Hockman; and a brother, Richard C. Anderson Jr.
Friends will be received from 2-6 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 1, at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home in DuBois. Friends will also be received from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, July 2, at the Smithtown Community Church in Falls Creek, where a funeral service will be conducted at noon with the Rev. Harold Hills officiating. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery in DuBois.
Memorial donations may be made to the Smithtown Community Church.
