Martha J. Kear, 92, Poplar Road, Weedville, died at her home, Sunday, June 14, 2015.
Born Oct. 17, 1922, in Weedville, she was the daughter of the late George E. and Beatrice (Champion) Kear Sr.
She had worked with Stackpole, Keystone, and many years as a custodian for Bennett's Valley Elementary School, retiring in 1985.
A member of Weedville United Methodist Church, she enjoyed quilting, taking care of her garden, but mostly being at home with her family. She lived most of her life in Bennetts Valley.
Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Yonkofski of Weedville; an adopted daughter, Judy (Vince) Sweed of Weedville; two granddaughters, Angel (Ricky) Gardner and Jessica (Adam) Schlimm; six great-grandchildren: Amber, Jasmine, Ashlynn and Jonathan Watkavitch, Lucas Gardner and Alexandria Barnett; two step great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Ashley Schlimm; one great-great-grandchild, Addison Watkavitch; two brothers, Arthur Kear of Weedville, Herbert (Peg) Kear of Florida; and a sister, Connie (Burton) Kunes of Weedville. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was also preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Miley Jade; four brothers: George, Fred, Barry and Vernon Kear; and two sisters, Violet Town and Priscilla Scusa.
There will be no visitation. Private services will be held by the family. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Community Nurses Inc. – Hospice.
