Martha Josephine "Jo" Smith, 91, passed away Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015, at Nelson's Golden Years, DuBois.
She was born May 17, 1923, in Valier, daughter of the late Marion C. and Dorothy D. Coleman Smith. She married John J. Smith Jan. 11, 1940. He preceded her in death in November 1983.
Martha attended Grace United Methodist Church, Sykesville.
She had worked at Zaffuto's Market in Sykesville for many years and had enjoyed embroidering.
Martha is survived by a daughter, Linda (Robert) Sprague, Reynoldsville; three sons, John (Alice) Smith, Florida; Thomas (Bonnie) Smith, DuBois; and Robert (Nancy) Smith, Butler; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Shirley Jane (Kermit) Postier of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and a brother, Donald (Bobby Jean) Smith of Brockway.
She was preceded in death by sisters, Marjorie Smith, Sarah Arnold, Ruth Lundberg, Rhoda Girts and brothers, Marion L. Smith, William Smith and Earl Smith.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, at the Adamson Funeral Chapel, Inc. of DuBois. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel with the Rev. Dawn Krishart officiating. Burial will follow in Lakelawn Memorial Park, Reynoldsville.
