Mary Lou Plyler Shick of Brookville passed peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, July 17, 2014, at the age of 79.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Alden Plyler and Mary Barbara Lahr Plyler; her brother, Roger Plyer; her husbands, Francis D. Raybuck and Bernard W. Shick; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She is survived by her sister, Rose Slike; and nine children: Randy Raybuck, Lynne Shaffer, Pam Yates, Sandy Raybuck, Connie Moore, John Shick, Theresa Shick, Bill Shick, Elizabeth McManigle. She was grandma to 22 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
Mary Lou graduated from Clarion State College. She taught math and science and retired from DuBois Area School District. She volunteered as a 4-H leader for 25 years and spent many years volunteering at local horse shows. She enjoyed painting, puzzles, crocheting and reading.
She was an active member of Immaculate Conception Parish of Brookville including the Altar and Rosary Society, choir and organist.
Family and friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday (today), July 20, 2014, at the McKinney Funeral Home, Brookville. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 21, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Church, Brookville.
Those that wish may make donations to St. Jude's Research Hospital, Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 in remembrance of Mary Lou.
