Mary M. Jackson, age 88, of North Street, Brockway, Pa., died on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born on Jan. 19, 1929, in DuBois, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Deward and Anna Cosky Hoffman. She was a graduate of the DuBois High School. Mary was married to Gerald M. Jackson in 1948 and he preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 2012.
Retired, she spent much of her life pursuing her talent as a seamstress. She worked at Paris Manufacturing in Brockway in the sewing department and later a various stores in the fabric sections. She enjoyed making clothing for her family. She also altered and produced wedding dresses and prom gowns for friends and relatives. She also loved to create "crafty items" as gifts including bird houses, dish towels, kitchen magnets and scrubbers. The walls of her home were covered with photographs of friends and family. Mary especially enjoyed her photo-picture frame with pictures of her grandson.
She was a long-time member of the Moorhead United Methodist Church in Brockway and supported the Brockway Area Historical Society and looked forward to each upcoming SAGA.
Mary is survived by a son, James (Elizabeth) Jackson of Brockway; two sisters, Jean (Red) Shipley of Blairsville, Pa., Joan (Terrance) Hargett of Venice, Fla.; a brother, Ernest (Julia) Hoffman of Merritt Island, Fla.; a granddaughter, Stacy (Dustin) McNeil of Lakewood, Colo.; and a great-grandson, Jackson McNeil.
In addition to her parents and her husband she is also preceded in death by her stepmother, Mabel Dinger Hoffman; an infant son; and a grandson, Scott Jackson.
Burial was in the Temple Cemetery at Hazen.
A "Time of Remembering" will be held on Friday, July 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway for both Mary and Gerald, and the Rev. Terry Felt will end the evening with a prayer.
