Mathew Mickel Silvis Jr., lovingly nicknamed 'Cheeks,' was called to be a Guardian Angel on February 17, 2018.

Born July 9, 2017 to Sarah Marie (McElwee) Shenkle and Mathew Mickel Silvis, he was the admiring little brother to Chloe Marie McElwee. Mathew loved spending time with his sister, listening to music, dancing, laughing, and jumping all over anyone that would let him. Mathew will always be remembered for his infectious smile, his genuine giggle, his laid-back personality, and (of course) his extremely kissable cheeks. His parents could not have hand-picked a more perfect son.

Along with his parents and sister, Mathew is survived by maternal family including great-grandparents, Richard and Nancy (Davis) Shenkle Sr., South Korean great-grandparents, Lee Jae Yul and Pak Ok Jee, grandparents, Richard and MiA Shenkle Jr., Uncle Richard Shenkle III, and many Shenkle cousins and South Korean relatives. His surviving paternal family includes great-grandmother, Edna Silvis, grandparents, Mickel and Pamela (McDonald) Silvis, Aunt Lena Pierce, and cousins, Gionna Pierce and Azaria Pierce-Gaskins, as well as many Silvis and McDonald family relatives.

Mathew was preceded in death by paternal great-grandfathers, Roderick McDonald and Alvin Lee Silvis, paternal great-grandmother, Phyllis (Gustafson) McDonald, paternal great-aunt, Debbie (Lindemuth) Pierce, and cousin, Isaiah Davis.

Family and friends will be received at the Adamson Funeral Chapel, Inc. on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 4 p.m. at the funeral chapel with Pastor Amy Miller officiating.

A special thank you goes out to all of the individuals that put forth such heroic effort in trying to save our baby. Words cannot express our sorrow, but his short life brought so much joy and love to all that met him. You are so loved baby boy.

Memorial donations may be made to the organization of the donor's choice.
