Maude W. McNaughton, 80, of Harrisburg, Pa., passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at the Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pa.
Born Aug. 3, 1935, in DuBois, Pa., she was the daughter of the late George Joseph and Mae Adeline (Jones) Proesl. She was the wife of 60 years to David G. McNaughton, whom she married Sept. 17, 1955.
Maude, a graduate of the DuBois Business School, was a secretary at Harrisburg Area Community College where she worked in the Police Science Department for more than 22 years.
Maude enjoyed knitting and donating blankets for the Bethesda Mission and local blanket drives. She was the keeper of the family tree through her study of the family genealogy. She had a passion for walking, having walked the Boston Marathon and the Harrisburg Marathon several times. She loved her family, raising her children, hosting her annual "cookie day" and working on jigsaw/crossword puzzles.
She attended the Harris Street United Methodist Church where she volunteered in the church nursery.
In addition to her husband, Maude is survived by two daughters, Laura M. McNaughton and Lois A. McNaughton; one son, Andrew D. McNaughton and his wife Angela, all of Harrisburg; and five grandchildren: Adaira J. McNaughton, Alaina C. McNaughton, Kaila S. Hicks, Isaiah J. Hicks and Andrew D. McNaughton Jr.
Along with her parents, Maude was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Ann Goodemote.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2016, at the Hetrick-Bitner Funeral Home, Harrisburg. The Rev. Eugene A. Liddick will officiate. Burial will immediately follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg.
The visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics Area M, P.O. Box 382, Summerdale, PA 17093.
