Maxine E. Bish, 80, Punxsutawney, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at the home of her daughter, Laurie Young, in DuBois, surrounded by family, after a year-long courageous battle with cancer.
Born Sept. 20, 1934, in Corbettown, she was the daughter of Kenneth and Twila Smith Hinderliter.
She married Blaine D. Bish on Sept. 27, 1952. He preceded her in death July 27, 2006.
She was a loving, caring, and generous Christian lady whose greatest pleasure was spending time with her family. Her independent spirit and strong will served her well as her health declined.
She enjoyed reading her Bible, crocheting, gardening, traveling, reading Christian novels, and family time. Spending time with Church and Grace Place friends was very special.
A loving mother who will be sadly missed by her children: Kathy Himes and husband, Tom, of Home; Laurie Young and husband, Dan, of DuBois; Vicky Young and husband, Paul, of Costa Rica; Blaine Bish and wife, Marcey, of Alaska; and Bryon Bish of Worthville; her grandchildren: Jaime, Adam, David, Ashlee, Michele, Eric, Marissa, Alyssa, Ryan and Brandon; her six great-grandchildren: Matthew, Joelle, Isaac, Joshua, Halle and Natalie; a brother, Jim Hinderliter and wife, Pat; her husband's brother and sisters: Marge Brininger and husband, Dick; Bonnie Yarger, Sheryl Yarger, Bob Bish and wife, Betty, and Carol Ent and husband, Steve; many nieces and nephews; and a very special best friend, Leona Hayden; and a special cat, Oscar.
Waiting to celebrate eternal life in heaven with her husband, parents, step-father, Samuel Enterline; mother and father-in-law, Jeff and Pearl Bish; and a brother, Dick Hinderliter.
Friends and family will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2015, at the Deeley Funeral Home, Punxsutawney. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, at the First Church of God of Punxsutawney with the Rev. Paul Young and Pastor Tim Connor officiating.
