May L. Fritz, 83, of DuBois died Saturday, June 10, 2017, at Christ the King Manor after a short illness.
Born May 9, 1934, in Texarkana, Arkansas, she was the daughter of the late David and Jane (Little) McGaha. May was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John "Jack" Fritz.
She grew up in Texarkana, Arkansas, and graduated from Texarkana Area High School in 1952.
She married Jack Fritz on April 2, 1955, after meeting him during his tour in the Army in Texarkana, Arkansas. They then moved to DuBois, where she lived the remainder of her life.
After raising her family, May began her working career with the City of DuBois as a police dispatcher for many years until her retirement. May was also the co-owner of the Jo May Pet Store in DuBois for many years.
She loved being with her friends, sitting on the porch and enjoying the day; she didn't let life pass her by, she lived it to the fullest extent possible. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; she loved her family and friends and her pets.
She is survived by two sons, John Fritz and his wife, Lori and Jeffrey Fritz and his wife, Jill, both of DuBois; five grandchildren: John "JD," Cory, Abby, Adam and Tyler Fritz; and two great-grandchildren, Jaxon and Jordan Fritz. She will be missed by her lifelong friend of 75 years, Sue Jo Works of Texarkana, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Henning.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, June 13, 2017, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc., DuBois.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, at 11 a.m. from the funeral home with Pastor John Miller officiating.
Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery.
