Nalda W. Fitzgerald Benghauser Youngdahl, 90, a resident at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home in Hollidaysburg, died Wednesday Nov. 12, 2014, at the home.
Born April 4, 1924, in Ashburn, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Charles J. and Mary R. Varnadow Fitzgerald. She was married to Jacob M. Benghauser and he preceded her in death. She then married Elwood Youngdahl and he preceded her in death May 1, 2009.
Nalda was a graduate of Jordan High School in Columbus, Ga., and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
She also served as past Worthy Matron in the Eastern Star in Niagara Falls, N.Y., and was a lifetime member of the American Legion.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna (Robert) Beck of Scottdale and Mary (William) Croft of Roaring Spring; one son, Charles (Donna) Benghauser of Prescott, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Jacob Benghauser Jr.
A memorial service will be announced in April of 2015.
Burial will be in the Morningside Cemetery in DuBois.
