Nancy Donohue McWilliams, 90, 117 West Market St., Danville, passed away Monday, Dec. 8, 2014, at Christ the King Manor in DuBois.
She was born July 23, 1924, in Shamokin, the daughter of the late Francis and Violet Wolfe Donohue.
She was married for 68 years to Charles E. "Sonny" McWilliams Jr., whom she married July 15, 1946.
Nancy graduated in 1941 from Shamokin High School. She graduated from Bloomsburg State College in 1961 with a bachelor's degree and in 1964 with a master's degree in elementary education and from Bucknell University in 1966 with a master's degree in guidance.
She was employed as a teacher in the Danville School District in 1963 and from 1969-88 as a guidance counselor at Danville High School.
Nancy was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Danville,
Nancy was an avid reader and enjoyed her piano, puzzles and spending time with her family. She liked to travel and for much of her life belonged to several bowling leagues. When she was first married, she even used to go hunting with her husband, Sonny.
In addition to her husband, Charles "Sonny" McWilliams of Danville, she is survived by one son, Charles "Chad" McWilliams and his wife, Rory, of Yorba Linda Calif.; and a daughter, Sharon Frances Carr and her partner, Kevin Hudock of DuBois. Also surviving are eight grandchildren: Renee Mongold and her husband, Steve, of Virginia Beach Va., Brian Carr of Virginia Beach, Va., Alyssa Putnam and her husband Niles of Dover, Del., Mark Carr and Patrick Carr of Pittsburgh, Brett Holmes and his wife, Jessica, of Yorba Linda, Calif; Shannon Gard and her husband, Wes, of Ladera Ranch, Calif.; and Kerry McWilliams of Anaheim, Calif.; and eight great-grandchildren: Ben, Kyle, Will, Josh, Dorian, Addy, Taylor and Sydney.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Visneski Funeral Home Inc., 10 West Mahoning St., Danville, and from 10-10:45 a.m. in St. Hubert Chapel at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 18 E Center St., Danville. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at the church, with the Rev. Tri M. Luong officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Danville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 38105, or Christ the King Manor, 1100 West Long Ave., DuBois PA 15801.
