Nicholas A. Palumbo (1937 - 2016)

Nicholas A. Palumbo, age 79, of Bennett's Valley Highway, Weedville, Pa., died at home, Dec. 10, 2016, after a two-month illness.
Born April 19, 1937, in Monroeville, Pa., he was a son of the late Nicholas and Mary (Ricci) Palumbo.
He was married to Florence (Beldin) on Aug. 31, 1991.
He is survived by his wife, Florence (Beldin) Palumbo, Weedville, Pa.; three children, Nicholas A. Palumbo Jr., Monroeville, Pa., Barbara Velmer, Indiana and Cheryl Williams, Oklahoma; a stepson, Bryan Woods; and four grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents and one sister, Mary Jane Calabro.
He was a graduate of Clairton High School and a graduate of drafting school in Pittsburgh.
He worked as a design draftsman, retiring from Simpson Engineering of DuBois in 1999. Along with his wife, he owned and operated the Bennetts Valley Motel since 1981.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, driving his vintage Corvette convertible, gardening and cruises.
Born and raised in Pittsburgh area, he had been a Bennett's Valley resident since 1981.
Friends and family are welcome to attend a Memorial Celebration of Life to be held at 5 p.m., Jan. 7, 2017, at the Penfield Fire Company Training Center (Old Penfield Grange).
The family suggests memorials to the Elk County Humane Society and will be accepting online condolences at
