Orris Bergh Jr., 82, of DuBois, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2017, at Penn Highlands DuBois after a lengthy illness.
He was born Oct. 10, 1934, in Poplar, Montana, a son of the late Orris and Selina (Falcon) Bergh. He was married to Ellen L. (Askey) Bergh on July 3, 1957; she survives in DuBois.
Orris is also survived by four children: Linda (Timothy) Stitt of Commodore, Pa., Tammy Meier of Penfield, Randy (Vicky) Bergh of Luthersburg and Michael Bergh of Charleroi, Pa.; three sisters, Jan Two Bears (Geo) Falcon of Idaho, Joyce (Robin) Neihardt of Arizona, and Audrey (Delbert) Lutz of North Dakota; four brothers: Raymond (Kathleen) Bergh of Utah, Joseph Bergh of North Dakota, James (Bonnie) Bergh of North Dakota, and Larry (Patricia) Bergh of Tennessee; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Orris was a member of Turtle Mountain Reservation, Cree – Chippewa tribe in North Dakota. He was raised in Trenton, N.D., on Reservation land. He was a past volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and was awarded volunteer of the year. He loved playing golf, poker, and telling stories. He worked with the Amish communities in the area for many years. He was also a member of the All Seasons Trap & Skeet Club. He was employed as a driller & heavy machine operator for most of his life.
Orris was also preceded in death by a brother, Leslie and a sister, Doris.
Orris was an organ donor through CORE and always believed in helping people even after death.
