Parnell J. Trayer, 90, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2015, at his home on Trayer Road in Summerville.
Born Feb. 16, 1925, in Sigel, he was the son of the late Einsel S. and Lillie Silvis Trayer. He was married to Elaine Hope Moore Trayer on April 9, 1944, in Temple, Texas. She preceded him in death May 26, 2010.
He was a decorated Veteran of the Army, of which included two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. He fought in the World War II European Theater Infantry; he ended as a Staff Sgt., with Co. K 143rd Inf. 36th Div.
He was a retired PennDOT mechanic. He also worked for the Hanly Brick Plant in Summerville and the Trayer Garage in Stanton. He was a member of VFW Post 204 of Brookville, Disabled American Veterans and Roseville Independent Chapel.
He is survived by two sons, David T. (Janet) Trayer of Erie and Jim (Roxann) Trayer of Brookville; and three daughters: Linda (Timothy) Smith of Satsuma Fla., Cindy (George) Reynolds of Punxsutawney and Deborah (Roger) Long of Brookville. He is also survived by his brother, Clyde Trayer of North Freedom; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Wilbur Trayer; and three sisters: Margaret Ewings, Marie Beers, and Betty Trayer.
Friends and family will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at McKinney Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville PA, 15825. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Roseville Independent Chapel, 3381 Route 322, Brookville, Pa., with Pastor Jim Fillhart officiating. Interment will be in Lakelawn Memorial Park in Reynoldsville.
