Paul D. "Pete" Zimmerman, 61, 1514 Yellow Brick Road, Reynoldsville, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, after a 10-year battle with cancer.
Born April 1, 1953, in DuBois, he was a son of the late Paul E. and Madeline R. Coughlin Zimmerman. On June 14, 2002, he married Bonnie Sutter McKee Zimmerman. She survives and lives in Reynoldsville.
He was a 1971 graduate of Brookville High School and proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp as a LCpl in Vietnam.
Before retirement, he worked as a mechanic for McPherson Auto Body and Towing, Brookville.
Pete was a member of the American Legion Post 392, Reynoldsville. He was an avid hunter and loved yard sales and dirt track racing.
He was Methodist by faith.
He is also survived by a daughter, Laura Zimmerman of Cory; a stepdaughter, Amy McKee of Knoxdale; two stepsons, Keith (Ashley) McKee of Knoxdale and Jeffery McKee of Reynoldsville; seven grandchildren: Gracie and Claire Mathovich of Cory, Brandon and Kevin Eppley and Jace, Kohl and Brooke McKee, all of Knoxdale; three brothers, Jerry E. (Kathy) Zimmerman of Franklin, Gary L. (Jen) Zimmerman of Brookville, and Rick D. (Alice) Zimmerman of Reynoldsville.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert J. Zimmerman.
Friends will be receieved from 3-6 p.m. today (Friday, Jan. 23) at the Bernard P. Snyder Funeral Home in Reynoldsville. A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home with the Rev. Kevin Orndorff officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the DuBois Area Honor Guard. Burial will be in Emerickville Methodist Cemetery, Brookville.
