Paul E. Uplinger, 88, Route 219, Brockport, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2015, at his residence.
Born Jan. 31, 1927, in Brookville, he was the son of the late Fred and Edith McAdoo Uplinger. On April 21, 1951, he was married to Lucile Whamond and they enjoyed 63 years together.
Retired, Paul was employed at Brockway Glass for 40 years and at his retirement was a production staff specialist.
He was Presbyterian by faith and was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran.
He was a member of Elk Lodge #379 Free and Accepted Masons where he was a 32 degree member as well as a past master. He just received his degree for 60 years of membership in the Masonic Lodge. He also was a member of the Coudersport Consistory, Parson-Marnatti Post #95 of the American Legion and was a member of the Horton Twp. Sportsmen's Club.
Paul enjoyed playing golf and traveling with Lucile. He also enjoyed fishing for trout in the special streams of Pennsylvania.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by two sisters, Phyllis Anderson of Brockway, Jean Siple of Minnesota; and a son-in-law, Jack Dobmeier also of Minnesota; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Jean Dobmeier; four sisters: Mary Huffman, Evelyn Richards, Alice Sweet and Janie Holt; and three brothers: Wayne, Fred and Earl Uplinger.
Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. today (Friday, Feb. 27) and from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. A masonic service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, at the funeral home with Pastor Dave Nagele officiating. Burial will follow in the Earleyville Cemetery.
