Pauline Kathryn Shreckengost, age 103, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 8, 2018, as a resident of the McKinley Health Center in Brookville, Pa.
She was born on October 9, 1914, to the late George Sidney and Laura (Bargerstock) Shreckengost. On June 8, 1938, Pauline married Filmer John Shreckengost; he preceded her in passing on July 17, 1995.
Pauline was a member of the Stanton United Methodist Church and a past member of the Brookville Area Senior Citizens.
Pauline grew up on a 50-acre farm in which she was taught the true value of hard work. Her first job outside of the farm was a housekeeper; she started this shortly after she was married. For many years she drove school bus for the Brookville Area School District with her CB Radio handle being Blue Bird. Pauline loved cutting grass and she enjoyed flowers. Along with her husband Filmer, and her son Dale, she liked to tinker on the trucks, wash the trucks, and run for parts. She also performed all of the administrative duties they were responsible for while owning the ESSO Service Station in Stanton. She always looked forward to going on the Brookville Senior bus trips and eating out with her friends. Pauline loved her church, she loved her family, she liked picnics in the Summer and traveling with Filmer. It's hard to wrap up 103 years into a paragraph, but Pauline lived through the best and worst times that the past century had to offer. She raised her family well and will be remembered as the beautiful matriarch that she was.
Pauline is survived by one daughter, Betty (Donald) Keth of Summerville, Pa.; one son; Dale (the late Sandy) Shreckengost of Stanton, Pa.; one sister, Dee Allori of New Bethlehem, Pa.; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Pauline is preceded in death by one sister, Mae Ferkan; one brother, Clifton Shreckengost; and one infant daughter.
Family and friends will be received on Sunday, March 11, 2018, from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m., at the McKinney–d'Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA, 15825.
A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family with interment taking place at the Saint Mark's Lutheran Cemetery, Eddyville, Armstrong Co., Pa.
