Keith was born Feb. 8, 1919, in Punxsutawney, to the late Roy Cullen Schaffner and Zelda Domb Schaffner.
He represents the fifth generation from Heinrich Schaffner, who came to America in 1816, and the third generation to own the furniture store - in the family for over 100 years.
He graduated from Falls Creek High School in 1936 and Muskingum College in 1940. He was involved in many community organizations. Keith was a successful businessman, avid hunter and fishermen, talented musician, loving father, kind Christian man, creative grandfather, and fun great-grandfather. People appreciated his warm smile.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Marian Etta Thompson Schaffner; his two daughters, Peggy Church (Tom) of Wichita, Kan. and Sally Vogel (Vic) of Lewisburg; his son, Tom Schaffner of Treasure Lake; his four grandchildren: Becky Phelps (Tommy), Julia Shetlar (Martin), both of Wichita, Kan., Chris Vogel (Jess) of Canonsburg and Heather Williams (Stephen) of Jacksonville, Fla.; his eight great-grandchildren: Abbey, Carley, Grant, Isaac, Eli, Alana, Harper, Lainey, Kade and Viviaan.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Joanna Baun, and his brother, John Schaffner.
Friends will be received from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, at the Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel, Inc., DuBois. An additional hour of viewing will be held from 10:30 until the time of service Wednesday at the Falls Creek United Methodist Church. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015, at the church. Mr. Schaffner's son-in-law, the Rev. Tom Church and the Rev. David Chin will officiate. Burial will be in Morningside Cemetery.
