Richard E. "Dick" Simpson, 83, of Corsica, passed away on Saturday morning, Aug. 29, 2015, at the Brookville Hospital.
Dick was born April 13, 1932, in Corsica, a son of the late Emery and Sadie Himes Simpson. He was married to Nancy K. Rossey for over 62 years, beginning on Jan. 14, 1953. Nancy survives him.
He served in the U.S. Army, 101st Airborne.
He worked for Alltel Phone Company and retired from there after 42 years.
He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Independent Baptist Church in Corsica; the Corsica Vol. Fire Dept.; Hobah Lodge 276; and the Clarion Legion. He enjoyed serving the Lord, managing the Corsica Astros in his early years, he had a love for the Pirates and his John Deere tractor.
In addition to his wife Nancy, he is survived by four sons: Rick (Diane) Simpson, Stub Simpson, Chris (Lisa) Simpson, and Gus (Tina) Simpson, all of Corsica; one daughter, La Shonda (Jim) Wolfgang of Kane; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by four sisters: Dorothy Smith, Donna Heasley, Kay Simpson, all from Corsica, and Charlotte Selman of Waynesboro; one brother, Dale Simpson of Lancaster; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers: Pete Himes, Bud Simpson, Paul Simpson; two sisters, Mary Medsgar and Norma Jean Definbaugh; and his daughter-in-law, Joyce Simpson.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, 2015, at the McKinney – d'Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA 15825. A second visitation will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015, from 10-11 a.m. at the Mt. Pleasant Independent Baptist Church on Route 322 in Corsica, with a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. in the same location. Interment is to take place at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Cemetery in Corsica.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Cemetery Fund in Corsica, or to the Corsica Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 265, Corsica, PA 15829.
