Richard "Rick" Snyder, age 55, of Emerickville, Pa., passed away unexpectedly in the comfort of his home on Friday, Dec. 30, 2016, as a result of natural causes.
Rick was born on March 17, 1961, in DuBois, Pa., to George D. and Sally Lou (Steele) Snyder; both parents survive him.
Rick attended the Brookville Area Schools. He was very talented with his hands and he had the ability to work construction, specifically carpentry work, which he did very well. He was artistically minded and enjoyed being creative. He was mostly a homebody, but he liked traveling to New York to spend time with his family there and he enjoyed going to the local races.
More than anything else he loved his dog Max. Rick wouldn't go anywhere without Max, he avoided places that weren't dog friendly, and he spoiled Max as much as he could; Max survives him.
In addition to his parents, Rick is survived by one brother, David (Angie) Snyder; their three sons, David (Angie) Snyder, Josh (Courtney) Snyder, Joe (Heather) Snyder; eight great-nieces; one great nephew; and many friends, too many to name, but he loved you all.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, David and Laura Snyder, and his maternal grandparents, Richard and Margaret Steele.
Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., at the McKinney–d'Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, also at the funeral home, beginning at 11 a.m., and officiated by the Rev. David Chin and the Rev. Henry Scoff. Interment will take place at the Emerickville Methodist Cemetery (Moore Cemetery), Pine Creek Twp., Jefferson Co., Pa.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Willow Run Sanctuary and Adoptions, 381 E. Branch Rd., Brookville, PA 15825.
