Richard W. "Dick," "Sneezy" Snyder, age 86, of Summit Street in Brookville, Pa., passed away peacefully on Friday, April 15, 2016, as a resident of the Jefferson Manor in Brookville.
He was born on July 13, 1929, to the late William C. and Elizabeth B. (Shelley) Snyder, in Brookville, Pa.
On October 6, 1951, he married Vada M. (Calhoun) Snyder, in Brockway, Pa.; Vada survives him.
Dick and Vada owned and operated Snyder's Dry Cleaning in Brookville from 1954 - 1991.
He enjoyed being able to go to their property and spend time in the woods. He liked to hunt for deer, turkey, and groundhog. He was also an avid gardener. In his early years, he was well known for his roller skating skills. Dick served as a Brookville Volunteer Fireman for over 20 years but more than anything else, he loved and enjoyed his family.
In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by one daughter, Gwendolyn (Denny) Battaglia of Brookville, Pa.; two grandchildren, Bryan (Amber) Battaglia of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Erin Battaglia of Reynoldsville, Pa.; three great-grandchildren, Madisan Cable, Katy McGahey, and Max McGahey.
In addition to his parents, Dick is preceded in death by one sister, Adair Strang; Dick was the last surviving member of his family.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today, Sunday, April 17, 2016, at the McKinney - d'Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 18, 2016, also at the McKinney - d'Argy Funeral Home, officiated by the Rev. James Steingass. Interment will take place at Temple Cemetery in Warsaw Township, Jefferson County, Pa.
