Rita J. Cantafio, 89, a resident at Highland View Health Care Center in Brockway, died Saturday, May 16, 2015, at Highland View.
Born Oct. 28, 1925, in Crenshaw, she was the daughter of the late Abelle and Mary E. Rindosh Busatto. She was married on July 26, 1947, to John B. Cantafio. He preceded her in death on March 18, 2000.
Retired, Rita had been employed at the Sylvania Plant in Brookville.
She was a member at St. Tobias in Brockway. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxillary at Parson-Marnatti Post #95, the Rosary Society, and also a member of the First Catholic Slovak Union.
She enjoyed baking, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
Rita is survived by two daughters, Cecelia (Butch) Groves of Oviedo, Fla. and Mary (Rich) Harmic, also of Oviedo, Fla.; one son, John (Debbie) Cantafio of Brockway; and one sister, Melda Spuck of Rathmel. She is also survived by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by four sisters: Mary Sicheri, Helen Caracciolo, Agnes Brosky, Margaret Busatto; two brothers, Frank and John Busatto; and a grandson, Aaron Cantafio.
Calling hours will be from 6-9 p.m. Sunday, May 17, at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 18, at St. Tobias Church in Brockway with the Rev. Msgr. Charles Kaza presiding. Burial will follow in St. Tobias Cemetery. A Vigil Service will be held at 8:45 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Tobias Church or the Aaron P. Cantafio Life Changing Award in care of the Brockway School District. Online condolences may be left at csfhinc.com.
