Robert L. Anderson, 80, of Frankford, Del., formerly of Aberdeen, Md., passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, June 28, 2014, at his home.
Bob was born on June 9, 1934, in DuBois, a son of the late James and Blenda Pearson Anderson.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1957-1960, obtaining the rank of sergeant. Bob also retired from the Aberdeen Proving Ground in 1993 after 27 years of service working in the fire department and also as a post engineer.
Bob was a life member of the DuBois Fire Co., a member of the Garfield Lodge No. 559 F&AM Masonic Lodge in DuBois, and a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Ocean City, Md.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Ann Anderson, and a brother, James B. Anderson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Marianne Weppler Anderson; two sons, Robert E. Anderson and his wife, Melody, of Rising Sun, Md., and Brett A. Anderson and his wife, Rebecca of Aberdeen, Md; two stepchildren, Michael T. Wight of Frankford, Del., and Karen A. McFarland of Essex, Md.; a granddaughter, Caroline Joy Anderson, and a brother, Nels Anderson of Orlando, Fla.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 10301 Coastal Highway, Ocean City, MD 21842 with a luncheon to follow.
A Masonic graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2014, in the chapel of Morningside Cemetery, 1865 Bee Line Highway, DuBois, followed by military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Bob's name to the Fourth Ward Hose Co. No. 4 Volunteer Fire Co., 250 S. Brady St., DuBois, PA 15801.
