Robert "Shane" Anderson, 60, of DuBois, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at DuBois Nursing Home, following a courageous battle with lung cancer.
He was born in Albany, N.Y., a son of the late George A. and Verna M. (Flynn) Anderson.
Shane grew up in DuBois, graduating from the DuBois High School in 1975. Following high school he studied mechanical engineering at Penn State DuBois Campus, receiving an Associate of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
He began his employment career at Pace Precision Tool & Die as a draftsman and continued working there for several years. He later worked at Swift-Kennedy Insurance Agency as a salesman and most recently had been employed by Hallstrom-Clark Electric.
As a young man he attended and was a member of the 1st Baptist Church in DuBois. Shane loved golfing and hunting with his family and friends and was known to frequent the DuBois Country Club and Treasure Lake Golf Course. He enjoyed taking golf trips with his friends sharing laughter and a good competitive game.
Shane is survived by his three daughters, Heather R. Werner (Jeffrey) of Luthersburg, Ashley N. Hirschfeld (Jason) of Navarre, Fla., Chelsea D. Mayo (Michael) of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; his grandchildren: Noah Pierce, Allivia Pierce, Jaxon Anderson, Teagan Hirschfeld and Carson Mayo; also his very best friend, Gene Beckes of Penfield.
No calling hours will be observed.
Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Wednesday May 31, 2017, at the Lakeside United Methodist Church, 420 First St., DuBois at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. Nathanael "Nate" Fugate officiating.
