Robert Gardner, 95, a lifelong resident of Ridgway, passed away Monday, Sept.15, 2014, at Penn Highlands Elk, after a brief illness.
Born July 11, 1919, in Ridgway, he was the son of Elmer and Susie Wilson Gardner.
He was married to Genevieve M. Assalone on Feb. 10, 1945, at St Leo's Church. She survives.
Robert retired as foremen for Ridgway Steel Fabricators. He served on various committees at Cayman Landing Campground. He enjoyed working outdoors with the soil, watching things grow, visiting with friends, and using his skills to fix most anything. He also enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his only daughter, Kathleen Gardner; a sister, Mabel; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers: Walter, Elmer and Harry; and sisters, Agnes and Martha.
Viewing will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18, at Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home, Ridgway. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Peterson. Internment will be at Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Ridgway.
