Robert "Tootie" H. Armagost, 94, of Reynoldsville, Pa., died on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018, at UPMC Altoona in Altoona, Pa.
Born Tuesday, July 24, 1923 in Reynoldsville, Pa., he was the son of the late Christopher Armagost and the late Victornie (Terinski) Armagost. He was the husband of the late Mary Ann (McDonald) Armagost.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He drove trucks hauling gasoline from supply dumps to units in the front lines and carried cadavers from the front line to burial grounds in the rear. He did this work for the Graves Registration Services.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a life member of the Reynoldsville American Legion Post #392, BPO Elks and FO Eagles #540. He served with the Legion Honor Guard for many years.
He is survived by his sons, John R. Armagost (Rita) of Punxsutawney, Pa., and William H. Armagost of Reynoldsville, Pa.; daughter, Christine A. Weaver of Reynoldsville, Pa.; brother, Joseph Armagost (Alice) of Plattsburg, N.Y.; sister, Ellen Deihl of Reynoldsville, Pa.; one granddaughter, Susie Peterman; two great-grandchildren, Shawna and Jeremiah.
In addition to his parents and wife he was predeceased by his son, Joseph Armagost; grandson, Christopher Armagost; brothers, Edward Armagost and Jack Armagost; sisters, Betty Mumford, Ileana McGary, Mary King and Martha Mennitti.
A Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church located at 607 E. Main St., Reynoldsville, PA 15851 with the Fr. William Barron officiating. Military honors will be preformed by the DuBois Area Honor Guard following the service. Interment will be in Beulah Cemetery, Reynoldsville, Pa.
The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 26, 2018, at Bernard P. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., 206 E. Main Street, Reynoldsville, Pa., and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018 at St Mary's Catholic Church.
