Robert L. Crytser Jr., 90, Falls Creek, passed away Friday, Oct. 31, 2014, at the DuBois Nursing Home.
Born May 8, 1924, in Falls Creek, he was the son of the late Robert L. Crytser Sr. and Ruth Doan. On Jan. 31, 1946, he married Evelyn P. Crytser, who passed away May 18, 1964.
Robert served during World War II in the United States Army in the European Theatre, Paris, France and Germany. He served under the Army Airborne 17th and 102nd.
Robert was the owner of Crytser Drilling. He was a member of Rathmel Baptist Church, Ruptured Ducks with the American Legion and former member of the Grange. His hobbies included fishing in Canada with his grandsons, hunting and the outdoors.
He is survived by his two children: Michael and his wife, Elaine Crytser of Butler and Charlene and her husband, Robert D. Halowell Jr. of Falls Creek; step-son: Larry Lerch; three grandsons: Robert D. Halowell III, James D. Lerch and Michael L. Crytser Jr.; and a granddaughter, Jennifer P. Halowell; five great grandchildren: Taylor N. Wascovich, Morgan C. Wascovich, Miranda Lynn Jane Crytser, Tamela L. Lerch and Joseph I. Lerch
He was preceded in death by his second wife, Doris Myers Crytser; a grandchild, Tamala L. Lerch; and four brothers: Vern, George William, Jack and Daniel Crytser.
A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, at the chapel at Morningside Cemetery, with the Rev. Kenneth Eddy officiating. Full military honors will be accorded by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the DuBois Nursing Home or .
