Robert "Bob" Wesley Miller, age 89, of Brookville, Pa., passed away on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018, as a patient at Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital.
January 29, 1928 was the day he was born in Brookville, Pa., which means he was almost 90 years old. He was born to the late William and Aldine (Reitz) Miller in Brookville, Pa.
He graduated from Brookville High School with the class of 1945.
On August 8, 1952, Bob married Norma Jean (Snyder) Miller in Brookville, Pa. For over 65 years Norma Jean was the love of his life as she survives him.
After graduating, Bob joined the United States Army and served honorably prior to the Korean Conflict. Immediately after he was discharged from the military he began working for the Hanley Brick Company in Summerville, Pa. After 17 years of service with the brick company he began working for Owens Illinois in the Brookville plant. At the age of 60 he retired.
Robert enjoyed everything involving nature, he spent much of his time outdoors absorbing its beauty and enjoying all it had to offer. Along with hunting and fishing he enjoyed canoeing and especially liked working in the dirt. He had a beautiful flower garden. Motorcycle riding was another hobby that he enjoyed with Norma Jean, they even rode to Alaska and back. Bob always enjoyed supporting his children and grandchildren in their extracurricular activities including their school sporting events.
Bob had a strong faith and was a long-time member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church. He helped with the construction of the building and attended the very first service held there in September of 1956; he was also Head Usher at the church for many years.
In addition to his wife Norma Jean, Bob is survived by one son, John Miller of Brookville, Pa.; one granddaughter, Shanna (Donald) Adams of Grove City, Pa.; four great-grandchildren: Adrianna, Trey, Ethan, Kirstin; and two sisters, Jean Oppedal, and Ruth Brutt.
In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by one daughter, Sandra Miller and one son, Jeffrey Miller.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, from 9 – 11 a.m., at the Evangelical United Methodist Church, 30 S. White Street, Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 11 a.m. and officiated by Pastor Chuck Jack.
