Ronald J. Frano, age 82, West Sheridan Avenue, DuBois, Pa., died Sunday, April 10, 2016, at Penn Highlands DuBois.
Born Dec. 24, 1933, in DuBois, Pa., he was the son of the late Vendll J. and Annette (Opryszek) Frano.
On April 23, 1966, in Punxsutawney, Pa., he married Mary Virginia (Kaza) Frano. She survives.
He was a veteran of the United States Army.
Ron retired from Riverside Warehouse after 42 years of service.
He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. He was a member of the Polish Citizens Club and the Adrian-Sandy Hose Co. #3. He enjoyed monthly trips to Salamanca with the DuBois Senior Center and going to the Y.M.C.A. He was an avid Penn State football fan and Duke University basketball fan, but most of all, he enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren. In his younger days, Ron enjoyed playing basketball and baseball. He played basketball for the DuBois Chevies and was a member of the last championship team of Sandy High School. He played baseball for Wishaw, Falls Creek and the Pulaski Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, John C. Frano and his wife, Patty of Meadville, Pa.; a brother, Albert W. Frano and his wife, Brenda of DuBois, Pa.; and two grandsons, Joshua J. Frano and Nathan P. Frano.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at the Goble Baronick Funeral Home, DuBois. A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 3:45 p.m. Wednesday from the funeral home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016, from St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Msgr. Charles Kaza, his brother-in-law, and Fr. Daniel Kresinski con-celebrating.
Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.
