Ruth N. Burkholder, 99, formerly of DuBois, passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016, in Wilmington, N.C.
Born Feb. 28, 1917, in Bellwood, Pa., she was the daughter of the late John Frank and Annie (Ghaner) Fields.
On Dec. 22, 1937, she married Lemont "Duke" Burkholder. He preceded her in death on June 21, 1984.
Ruth graduated from Bellwood Antis High School. She was a banker with DuBois Deposit National Bank and a sales clerk with Town and Country Women's Apparel and Troutman's. Being a coach's wife, she was an avid high school, college, and professional football fan. She loved being with family and coming home to see friends. She was Methodist by faith.
She is survived by three daughters, Sally deNeuf of DuBois, Dixie (Dave) Moulthrop of DuBois, and Toni (Steve) McCowin of Leland, N.C.; four grandchildren: Stacie (Moulthrop) Scully, Nicole (Levis) Snyder, Duke Moulthrop, and Kyle McCowin; and five great-grandchildren. She was the last member of her immediate family.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and an infant granddaughter, Vickie Levis.
Friends and family will be received Friday, Dec. 30, from 6-9 p.m. at the Adamson Funeral Chapel, Inc., DuBois. A funeral service will be held Saturday, Dec. 31, at 11 a.m. with LaMarr Adamson C.L.P. officiating. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.
