Sally Lynn Cook, 81, Brookville, passed away Saturday, July 18, 2015, at the Brookville Hospital.
Born Aug. 18, 1933, in Ford City, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Regina (Lynn) Zimmerman. Sally married Richard Jerome Cook on Aug. 21, 1954. Richard preceded her in death.
Mrs. Cook enjoyed working and retired from Traffic Control Devices, Inc. of Altamonte Springs, Fla., after a long and satisfying career. Following retirement, Sally kept very busy as she had a passion for reading, spending time outdoors, and gardening.
She was also a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and an avid part of the Laurelbrooke Landing Retirement Community Card Club. But most of all, Sally cherished her family and especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sally is survived by five sons and three daughters. Her sons are: Michael Henry Cook and his wife, Jolynn, of Worthville; Richard Cook and his wife, Pamela, of Brookville; Timothy Cook and his wife, Shelly, of Apex, N.C.; Gary Cook of Brookville, and Stephen Cook of Winter Park, Fla. Her daughters are: Lesa DeFelice and her husband, Carl, Casselberry, Fla.; Amy Hewitt and her husband, Patrick, of Maitland, Fla.; and Julie Youngmark and her husband, John, of State College. Sally is also survived by 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Cook was also preceded in death by a son, Tony Cook and a brother, Charles "Chick" Zimmerman.
Friends were received Monday, July 20, 2015 at the Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home Inc., Brookville. A funeral service was held Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Brookville with the Rev. Fr. William Laska officiating. Interment was in Saint Catherine of Siena Church Cemetery in DuBois.
