Sarah Mae Carberry, age 83, of Shawmut Road, Brockport, Pa., died on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2016, at Penn Highlands DuBois.
Born on Nov. 27, 1932, in Brockway, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Viola McKay Reed.
Sarah was a graduate of Horton School with a class of 22 students.
She was married to Dillis "Wayne" Carberry and he preceded her in death on Sept. 30, 2006.
Retired, she had been employed as a packer at Brockway Glass for over 30 years.
Sarah was a member of the Brockport United Methodist Church. She loved attending functions at the church, the Brockwayville Depot and at the Chatterbox. She loved playing bingo and hanging out at the ceramic shop. She also enjoyed camping with her family, especially with her grandkids and great grandkids.
She is survived by a daughter, Debbie (Ron) Burkett of Brockport; four grandsons: Mike (Kristen) Carberry of Ridgway, Andy (Casey) Carberry of Brockport, Ron (Amanda) Burkett III of Luthersburg and Adam Burkett of Johnstown, Pa.; five great-grandchildren: Seth Carberry, Bailee Carberry, Connor Burkett, Liam Burkett and Andrew Carberry Jr.; as well as many nieces, nephews and her beloved dogs, Benji and Rudy.
In addition to her parents and her husband she is also preceded in death by a son, Bradley Wayne Carberry, in 2011.
In addition to her biological family, Sarah was Mom and Gram to everyone who knew her.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Carlson-Shugarts Funeral Home Inc. in Brockway. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Brockport United Methodist Church with Pastor Karen Trask officiating. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Gardens at Ridgway.
