Shirley J. Minns, 87, Troutville, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2016, at her daughter Ruthie's home.
Born May 16, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Ruth (Cook) Pyne.
She was widowed by her first husband, Gerald Kriner, in 1970 and her second husband, Clarence "Sonny" Minns in 2005.
Shirley graduated from Sandy High School in 1947. She served as a hairdresser for 20 years at Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel as well as owned her own beauty shop.
Shirley was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Active in many church activities, she participated in the church choir as well as the community Christian choir, was active with the church's youth, and was a member of the Young at Heart. She enjoyed singing and sending cards.
Shirley is survived by six children: Lloyd Douglas Minns of DuBois, Gregory Paul (Kris) Minns of North Carolina, Ruth Marie (Ronald) Minns Haagen of Troutville, Sandra (Terry) Minns Donahue of Sykesville, Gerald G. Kriner of Reynoldsville, and Patsy (David) Minns Flanders of DuBois; 14 grandchildren: Cori, Cameron, Jared, Emily, Seth, and Kevin Minns, Kelly, David, Aaron, Dustin, and Kenny Flanders, Tiffany and Allison Donahue, and Gerald Kriner; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Friends and family will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, at the Adamson Funeral Chapel, Inc. in DuBois and from 10-11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. A funeral service will follow the church visitation at 11 a.m. Monday with Rev. Corben Russell officiating. Interment will be in Morningside Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Mt. Zion church choir and youth group, 16 Denton Ave., DuBois, PA 15801.
