Stanley D. Cribbs Sr., 91, Falls Creek, passed away Friday, Nov. 6, 2015, at Christ the King Manor after a short illness.
He was born Jan. 28, 1924, in Blairsville. He was the son of the late Gladys (Gerhard) Carruth. He was married to Mary (Hutton) Cribbs who survives in Brockway.
Stanley was in the U.S. Army during World War II having participated in five major battles. He was a rifleman in the Jump Wings Combat Infantry, jumping behind enemy lines and fighting back toward his own lines. Used rifle to destroy and capture and hold enemy personnel and positions. He was a heavy equipment operator for most of his life. Stanley loved the outdoors.
Stanley is also survived by his three children: Stanley "Dean" Cribbs Jr. and wife, Shirley, of Arizona; Mrs. Kim Edward (Karen Lee) Fors of Grove City and Mrs. Dan (Terri) Gardner of Brookville; 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Stanley was also preceded in death by a son, David Cribbs; and a sister, Marian Zahniser.
Visitation will be held from 1-3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, at the Leo Nedza Funeral Home. Service will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Trask officiating. Military honors will be accorded by the DuBois Area Honor Guard at the funeral home following the services.
