Thomas James Lucas, 85, of Fisher Road, Sigel, Pa., peacefully passed away on Monday, Feb. 13, 2017, at the Butler Veterans Hospital in Butler, Pa.
He was born on June 24, 1931, in Sigel, Pa., the son of Charles C. Lucas and Harriet Agnew Spence Lucas.
Tom was a member of the US Army, TK Company, 230 Infantry Reg. during the Korean Conflict. Upon being honorably discharged from the Army he attended airline school and worked for National Airlines in the baggage and freight department and also for Shawnee Airlines in ticket reservations. He later worked for 19 years in the sterile supply area at the VA Hospital in Gainesville, Fla., from where he retired.
Tom was a member of the Sigel United Methodist Church in Sigel, Pa., and enjoyed carpentry and woodworking. He loved hunting, and watching and feeding the deer.
Tom was also an avid sports fan, enjoying watching football and especially watching the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Tom is survived by one son, Timothy James Lucas Sr. (wife Paula) of Bell, Fla.; and one daughter, Diana Tuckerman (husband Murray) of Anchorage, Alaska; three grandchildren, Timothy James Lucas Jr., Becky and Michael Phillman Ward; and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wayne and William Winfield Lucas; four sisters: Betty Stewart, Eleanor Heilbrun, Mary Grubbs, and an infant sister.
The family of Thomas James Lucas will receive friends on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017, at the Peterson Funeral Home, 153 Jefferson St., Brookville, PA 15825, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at the Sigel United Methodist Church in Sigel, Pa., at 11 a.m. and full military honors will be awarded following the service. Internment will take place in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery in Sigel, Pa.
Memorial donations in Tom's memory made be placed with the , 2115 W 38th St., Erie, PA 16508.
