Tressie B. Jackson, 92, of Big Run, passed away at Christ The King Manor in DuBois on Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016. Our beautiful loving mother was surrounded by her family when she went to the Lord's House.
Mrs. Jackson was born in Gough, Ga., on June 30, 1924, a daughter of the late Jasper Allen and Mary Julia (Johnson) Broxton. Tressie married the late James Malone Jackson on April 24, 1946. James was a U.S. Army veteran and served during World War II.
Tressie, a well-known figure in Big Run, served as the postmaster for Big Run from 1974–1991 and was a member of St. Phillips United Methodist Church of Big Run. Her youthful spirit kept her active and always on the go. Tressie loved to dance and was a member of the Punxsy Polka Club. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary 9044 and a past Worthy Matron of Eastern Star. Tressie was loved by many and will certainly be missed by her family, her church, and her community.
Tressie is survived by her son, Christopher James Jackson and his wife Kareen of Big Run; her daughter, Tressie Lorene Weber and her husband Maurice of Reynoldsville; two sisters, Dorothy Dertzo of Melbourne, Fla., and Lorene James of Virginia. Tressie is survived by three grandchildren, Christi Jarbeck, Jason Weber and his wife Tracy, and Jeremiah Weber; five great-grandchildren: Ryan Jarbeck, Kaitlyn, Meghan, Jacob, and Evonna Weber.
Tressie was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Paulette Jackson; three brothers, Allen, Paul, and Roy Broxton; and three sisters, Mary Wren, Emmie Worth, and Evelyn Libertine.
