V. Ruth DePonceau, age 97, Treasure Lake, DuBois, Pa., died peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 25, 2016, at her home.
Born Dec. 5, 1918, in Weedville, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Fred and Millie (Bish) Bilodeau.
She was married to Garabaldi "Baldy" Fortunato. He preceded her in death in December of 1968. Later, she married Arthur DePonceau and he preceded her in death in September of 1998.
She was the oldest member, in both age and service, of the Parson-Marnatti American Legion Post 95 Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid golfer for many years. She was a member of the Red Hat Society in Reynoldsville and the Ladies of the Lake. She also loved to travel.
Ruth is survived by her son, Anthony "Tony" Fortunato of DuBois, Pa. and her daughter, Connie Beatty and her husband, Elmer of DuBois, Pa.; three sisters, Alice DeSantis of DuBois, Pa., Grace Keech of Kersey, Pa. and Mae Serianni of St. Marys, Pa.; and a brother, Dolph Bilodeau of Kersey, Pa.
She was preceded in death by three sisters: Rachel, Twila "Happy" and Frances; and three brothers: John Edward, Leo and Arthur "Bud."
There will be no visitation.
A Celebration of Life service will be held from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016, at the Lakeview Lodge in Treasure Lake.
Burial is in Gardner Hill Cemetery.
