Violet M. Phillips, 73, Guy Avenue, DuBois, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014, at Christ the King Manor.
Born April 11, 1941, in DuBois, she was the daughter of Anthony and Mary Kawa Poskanka.
On May 12, 1962, she married Richard L. Phillips. He survives.
Violet was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. She enjoyed going for walks with her husband and spending time with her grandchildren and gardening. She also enjoyed shopping with her niece, Nancy Chapman
Violet is survived by her children: Robert Phillips of Falls Creek, Karen Myers and her husband, Craig, of Winchester, Va., and Susan Christensen and her husband, Todd, of Culpeper, Va., five sisters: Angeline Cheslock of DuBois, Martha Michael of Harrisburg, Catherine Michael of DuBois, Mary Michael of Philadelphia and Rose Rokoski of DuBois; three grandchildren: C.J. and Lauren Myers and Dylan Christensen; two stepgrandchildren, Jordan and Joshua Christensen; and one great-grandchild, Jaxon Myers.
She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Gillis and Ann Cheslock.
There will be no public visitation.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Daniel Kresinski as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery.
