Wayne Shaffer, 71, Waterloo, N.Y., passed away Monday, May 15, 2017, at Geneva General Hospital, with his family by his side.
Friends and family are invited to call Thursday, May 18, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Mull Funeral Home, 113 Virginia Street, Waterloo. A funeral service will be Friday, May 19, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.

Wayne was born Dec. 12, 1945, a mere 3 lbs., 4 oz., in Brookville, Pa., the son of the late Eugene K. and Ellen F. (Berkhouse) Shaffer. He graduated in 1963 from Brookville High School where he played basketball and baseball. He studied auto body repair at Blairville Tech School. He moved to New York in 1964. Wayne was employed by Dave Hallman Chevrolet and Hargo Collision before starting his own business, Shaffer Collision, in 1977.
He volunteered with the North Seneca Ambulance and was a member of the Elks Club No. 992, Seneca Falls and Fraternal Order of Eagles 983, Brookville, Pa. Wayne enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, motorcycles and Willie Nelson. He was very much a family man and a big supporter of his grandchildren's athletics.
Wayne is survived by his loving wife, Linda Mae Geer, who he married Feb. 20, 1965; his three children, Wendy (Rory) Cottrell, Scott (Danielle) Shaffer and Becky (Scott) Cooper; nine grandchildren: Adam, Brett (Kaleigh Flynn), and Crystal Cottrell, Josef (Sydney Sampsell), Brittany (Adam Wheeler) and Meara Shaffer, Kenny, Madison and Mariska Dishaw; and a great-grandson, Aiden Josef.
