William Blair Bliss, 81, Chambersburg, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014.
He was born July 21, 1933, in Reynoldsville, the son of the late Wesley and Marion Skinner Bliss.
Bill graduated from Reynoldsville High School and went on to Penn State and earned his degree in electrical engineering.
A 50-year member of the Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring, he was employed as an operations research analyst and engineer for the federal government for many years, he also was a Captain in the U.S. Army.
Bill believed in serving others and was an active member of the following fraternities: George Washington Lodge No 143 F&AM in Chambersburg, Emporium Lodge 382 F&AM, John M. Reed Lodge in Reynoldsville, J.E. McColly Lodge 798, Harrisburg, Emporium Chapter 227, Orient Council 40, Ridgway, Past T.I.M. of George Washington Council 66, Chambersburg, George Washington Royal Arch Chapter Member and Past Commander of Continental Commandery of the Knights Templar, Scottish Rite Bodies of the Valley of Coudersport Consistory, Past Presiding Officer of Pennsylvania York Rite College II of Scranton, Sojourners 130 Carlisle, Erin Council Harrisburg, South Central PA Past Commanders Association, Harrisburg, Waynesboro Shriners Club and Zembo Shriners Temple in Harrisburg.
He is survived by the love of his life, Lulu Rae Berry Bliss; children: Laura Bliss, David Bliss, Lisa Kaiser (Boyd), Ginger Gardner; grandchildren: Eric Vanslander (Sawaka Nagano), Stephanie Bonanno (Nick); Jonathan Van Slander (Megan) and great-granddaughter, Carlee Rae Bonanno.
He will be remembered by friends and family as a loving father and a brilliant man.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, Dec. 3, 20140 in the Chapel of the Presbyterian Church of Falling Spring with the Rev. Mark A. Medina officiating. There will be a viewing one hour prior to the service in the chapel.
