William Jackson "Jack" Corbin, 65, was called home by our Lord on the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015, after nearly four years of heroically battling cancer.
Born June 30, 1950, in DuBois, he was the son of the late George "Mike" and Velma (Nosker) Corbin. Jack married Cynthia Joyce (Berkey) Corbin on Sept. 21, 1974, in Brockway. They were together for nearly 41 years. She survives.
Known as "Big Jack" to so many, he touched the lives of all who crossed his path. His enormous presence, booming laughter, and joy for life filled every room that he entered.
A lifelong volunteer, Jack selflessly gave back to such organizations as the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America, Brookville Area Little League, Jefferson County Children and Youth Services, and the Jefferson County Conservation District.
For several decades he was a member of many local organizations, including the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Brookville Lanes Men's Bowling League, and the Brookville Men's slow-pitch Softball League.
His four biological children also survive: USAF TSgt. Andrew Corbin stationed at Tinker Air Force Base, Okla., and wife Jennifer (Powders), Aaron Corbin of Charlotte, N.C. and wife Stephanie Shatto, Carrie Corbin Correa of Brookville and husband Jesus Correa-Torres stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, and Catherine Corbin Zafuto of Brookville and husband Ryan Zafuto. He is also survived by numerous other children who have been blessed to call him "Dad" including: Austin Freedline, Beth Carter, Mary Minns, Sally Minns Kephart, Dragon Minns, Phyllis Calhoun Davidson, Adriane Edney, Nathan Edney, Christy Marks and many others. Jack also has 12 grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two older brothers, Howard Corbin of Lincolnton, N.C. and Larry Corbin of Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Family and friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, and from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015, at the McKinney Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA. 15825. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 10, 2015, at the Evangelical United Methodist Church, 30 White St., Brookville, PA, 15825, with the Rev. Don Henderson officiating.
