Zakaria Michael Tefft, 31, Pittsburgh, died Friday, July 11, 2014, as result of a traffic accident in Delaware County, Ohio.
Born Dec. 25, 1982, in Wakefield, Rhode Island, he was a son of Michael Scott and Gail Ellen Cudworth Tefft. They survive and reside in Franklin.
Zakaria traveled to various locations as a manager for maintenance facilities for H&M, which is a Swedish multinational retail clothing company.
He loved his family, friends, music, art, and animals. His contagious smile and presence would light up a room. He enjoyed making people laugh and quickly became everyone's friend.
Zak was self taught and passionate about everything. He enjoyed building furniture from recycled materials, and especially loved wood and cooper. His greatest talent was the ability to see the potential in something that others considered worthless.
His artistic talent led him to starting "It's Never New Furniture" business in the Pittsburgh area.
Survivors also include his fiancé, Meghan Elizabeth McCaffery; a sister, Jessica Gagnon and husband, Lenny, of Summerville; four nieces: Emmalee, Lindsey, Courtney and Ashlee Gagnon; future inlaws, Gerard and Lynne McCaffery of New Jersey; Meghan's grandparents, whom he adored, Doris and Alfred Bauman of Florida; future nieces and nephews: Riley, Victoria and Gavin McCaffery of Colorado.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2014, at Brenda D. Shumaker Funeral Home Inc., Brookville. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Guy Felmlee.
