John D. Lee Sr.

John D. "Doug" Lee Sr., 89, of Vineland passed away peacefully on Friday, Sept. 6, 2013, at the New Jersey Veterans Memorial Home.

Doug was a graduate of Ocean City High School, where he played right guard on the football team. Doug also graduated from Eckel's Mortuary School in Philadelphia. He was a veteran in the Army Air Corps, having served during World War II. For 55 years, he was a practicing mortician, spending most of his career working for Rone Funeral Service before retiring in 2003. His passions included jogging, swimming and biking.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Martha Jane (Smith) Lee; son, John D. Lee Jr.; daughter, Kimberly Heimbach; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Deirdre Lee; six grandchildren, Jason, Candice, John, Gabrielle, Danielle and Katelyn; and three great-grandchildren. Doug was predeceased by his parents, Charles and Cordelia (Stratton) Lee; and daughter-in-law, Robin Lee.

A funeral home visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 4:30 to 6 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 6 p.m. from Rone Funeral Service, 1110 E. Chestnut Ave., Vineland. Final disposition will be private at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the supervision of Rone Funeral Service, 1110 E. Chestnut Ave., Vineland.
